It’s sometimes gets frustrating knowing some places I would go to would never always feel safe just by how I feel about some people that I know that go out and about(bars)>

You can go to museums, restaurants, Renaissance fairs, various shows, the zoo, or on a hike.

Yes, I’ll try all that more often. It helps when I have a job that allows for more free time(vacation/sick time).

I’d try meetup.com too. It’s a place to meet other people who have similar hobbies and some groups have hundreds of members. They usually meet in a public place during the daytime so it feels safe.
