- Things I am looking for in a person are:
A good balance between quiet time and physical activity. Willing to go on adventures. Someone with confidence and a style of their own. Original ideas and principles. If you’re into music, running and cycling so much the better, but it’s more important that somebody is passionate about things of their own than have to share the same ones as me. I’m looking for a serious relationship for the long-term – and if that means slightly long-distance, then I’m prepared to do that for the right person.
I am confident about calling myself asexual, but precisely where on the spectrum I am less sure of. I’ve been in relationships that have ranged from the other person being very sexual (which didn’t go well at all) to a complete absence of any sexual activity. I certainly prefer non-sexual intimacy though.
- About me
I am lucky enough to make my living from music – largely teaching but also playing classical cello and classical/pop/jazz piano, and conducting orchestras. When not working, I like jamming with friends, and outside of music, good meaningful conversation, anything to do with bicycles, cooking and baking, learning languages and being creative in general. I also run and go on cycle tours. I regard good food and a good lifestyle as very important – I cook fresh and care about what I eat, and look after my physical and intellectual health. Bread is something I’m particularly passionate about baking.
Of course it’s difficult to give an appraisal of your own personality, but I’ll try…I think I’m quite philosophical, I remain curious about the world and try to improve my intellectual knowledge and social intelligence, and I value aesthetics a lot. I aim to understand how people and systems work and how to make things more harmonious rather than raging against what I don’t understand or can’t control. At the same time, I’m a ’realistic optimist’ or perhaps a ’optimistic realist’ – head can come out of the clouds to focus on the task in hand and I know how to negotiate, navigate and plan. I gather I’m social but serious and tend to talk straight whilst being chilled and emotionally intelligent. I value a small number of close friendships over a large circle of acquaintances. I consider environmental and social fairness important: I do not fly and am a bicycle advocate, also veggie close to vegan.
I don’t have a full membership here yet as I’m not convinced it’s good value for money – but that might change, and I’m also on Acebook as Siimo.
