- Things I am looking for in a person are:
You like really nerdy tomboyish women, intellectual conversations, or going on adventures.
You are an intelligent young gentleman. I’m really interested in guys who also love science or are studying/employed in a scientific or engineering field, because then we will have a ton to talk about.
You have a weird, random sense of humor and enjoy scouring the internet for nonsensical pictures and internet memes. I spend way too much time on Tumblr looking at stupid pictures/text posts. My friends and I are incredibly strange and energetic. Sometimes people can’t handle it. 😛 If you like it, though, you will never stop laughing.
You need a hiking partner. You’d have fun getting me into shape. I need to be awesome at scaling mountains, but it’s no fun hiking in the wilderness by myself. And I’m sadly out of practice. The 100+ degree Arizona weather will do that to you.
- About me
Hello, everyone! I’ve written this profile from a dating perspective, but I am also really looking for new friends… So if you are looking for friends, too, don’t hesitate to send me a message! 😀
I am a very eccentric, fun, kind, silly, and hyperactive individual. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.
I am half Mexican American, half European American. I am a geologist. I have a proclivity for the colors red and yellow, and volcanoes. My life aspiration is to study volcanoes and to die in a horrible pyroclastic flow (I’m not really joking about the second part; IT WOULD BE EPIC). I am doing my Masters in Volcanology at SUNY Buffalo currently, so I will be looking for new friends and/or dates nearby. In the future I want a PhD in Volcanology! And yes, so I can be a volcanologist and travel the world. I’ve already seen more volcanoes than you might guess (Etna, Stromboli, Vulcano, Kilauea, Mauna Loa, Mt. Hood, the Three Sisters, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Newberry Volcano, Yellowstone Caldera, Long Valley Caldera, Lassen Peak, Mt. Shasta, and Medicine Lake Volcano). The goal is to visit -at least- two new ones every year for the rest of my life 🙂 What sort of fun volcanology research have I done so far? Well, two summers I had an internship at Oregon State, studying the Peruvian stratovolcano El Misti. Last summer I attended a volcanology field course in Hawaii, where I have finally been able to directly collect lava and gas samples from active fumaroles. This summer, unfortunately, I just attended Field Camp. That translates to dying in the wilderness–mapping rock units in the mountains for 35 days. It was traumatic.
I also love learning languages. I’m capable with Spanish, and have also taken classes in Japanese, Italian, and French. Naturally, as a geologist, I am affected with severe wanderlust. I have been to Italy and New Zealand thusfar. I intend to visit more countries than are probably necessary in the course of my lifetime.
I want to be friends before I start a relationship. That’s because I’m demisexual. If you’re confused about what that is, it means I’m not physically attracted to people unless I have a developed intellectual/emotional connection with them already. I don’t fall for people easily, so your best chance is for us to be pals. 🙂
I have no desire to find someone to ”complete” me. I am complete as I am, and am happy with or without a relationship. (That isn’t to say I wouldn’t like one!!!) I actually feel as though most people don’t understand my ambition, and this has been quite the obstacle for me.
Hence, I warn you not to become involved with me if you are extremely uncomfortable with the idea of having to (or my having to) travel frequently, my inability to be a ”housewife” in the traditional sense, and the serious possibility of my getting blown up in the crater of an active volcano. I’m married to my obsession, and I won’t give it up for anyone or anything.
I draw, I read, I write. I frequently daydream and strive to “live the life I have imagined”. Anyone acquainted with me will experience adventures whether or not they are entirely willing to do so…Whether it be ghosthunting or trying new ethnic restaurants.
