Looking for
About me
  • Things I am looking for in a person are:

Someone who stands up for the right thing, even at cost to himself. Anti-bigotry, anti-police (brutality) no drugs, no alcoholism. Okay with smokers, preferably smokes. ANGRY about the way things are. Would hide people persecuted by the government in his own house (I seem to be the only one in Long Beach willing; I asked half the town) Has an imagination. Likes cassettes and records and the music of that era.

    About me

Copy-and-pasted from OkCupid because that site has great space to write, but no-one cares because they want to sleep with someone .005 seconds after saying”hi” but only the cisgays. Who hate the rest of us. Because they’re all bigots.

And I left the message about not having premium just so I could say, wouldn’tcha know, everyone on there must be an illiterate chicken… I get ”likes” and only ”likes”…

    My self-summary

Favorite thing about the place I live

    Me, a Haiku

Most people that know me would say I’m

    Favorite memory from my childhood

    Things I am not

I CAN’T SEE PREMIUM CONTENT. MESSAGE ME OR DON’T BOTHER. THIS IS AT THE TOP, SO I’LL ASSUME ANYONE USING THE STAR THING CAN’T READ. (Or is too chicken to talk, but either one is a definite turn-off, as is the profile most people have on this site where they’re almost stalking celebrities [who cares–you don’t even KNOW them!], can’t stand staying in a single place for more than .005 seconds, wild party lushes, worships astrology, ugh… aside for looking for someone on my own level here, just looking for someone who didn’t just paraphrase every other profile here… )Hapa, good cook, lover of magnetic tape mediums. (Real, not Revisionist) history buff. Into comedy and murder mysteries. Gentrification has lost me three homes. Left social work because most shelters and the like don’t actually want to genuinely help people. Actually got 51/50’d by my boss as revenge because I wanted to help people REGARDLESS of ethnicity and religion. Lost my career, but I don’t regret it. I did the right thing in standing up against his bigotry. I can look myself in the mirror.I tried to put together a group that would provide for the needy and persecuted in late 2016. Papered half the town. No one wanted to get involved because it wasn’t ego-stroking, post-it-on-Facebook stuff. It was make and bring meals to the hungry and have 30 people sleeping on your floor to hide work. Sugihara Chiune is one of my idols. I’ve been known to let homeless people shower/eat/nap in my home (as long as I’m awake and present; they ARE usually strangers)Actually Old World-raised in Asia by Japanese side of family (now all deceased but me) I know a lot of people lie about not being here for one night stands to the point there’s no way of phrasing it that is believed sincere; I’m actually not. Don’t even bother coming at me lewdly–I will just block you. I am not that tree. I will also assume you have the reading comprehension of rotten bean sprouts, which is a total and complete deal-breaker, anyway (unless you’re still learning English, because this is in English and I’ve been there)I believe in standing up and fighting for the right thing. I’ve survived all sorts of violence, including by white supremacists.Looking for someone willing to take action as I am.Literally won’t work unless you’re the type of person I’m talking about. Stands up for others weaker than him (likeIdo), anti-bigotry. Opposites don’t always attract. I don’t care how good you look; I think my furniture and electronics look great, too, but I’m not trying to date my 8-Track player. I’ve tried making myself feel something based on the other person giving sexual cues alone WITHOUT feeling emotionally into them, sex literally did not work. And an hour in a coffee shop is not enough time, either, to know if anything will work. That’s why I put ”3-5 dates before sex.”I’ll continue identifying as ”Bisexual leaning towards other men,” but most (not all) of this is a rough idea why I need time/patience https://www.bustle.com/articles/155277-what-does-demisexual-mean-here-are-6-signs-that-you-may-identify-as-demisexualOn the brighter side, I grew up doing CB radio with my dad, I own 8 track players. I have a two-stereo and three VCR entertainment system. Shelving the issue of finding parts post-Radio Shack, I can maintain and repair these machines on my own. I taught myself how to modify Windows OS, although it’s not made for that like the zillions of Linux distros out there. I haven’t nailed down smartphones yet, so if you see any typos I failed to catch, auto-fill has a ten-word vocabulary, and it’s force-converting things.I have no problem with even accommodating any diet except vegan and ”no chemicals in my food.” The latter is obvious: everything’s a chemical. And carrots, corn, tomatoes, beef, and chicken all come from selective breeding, which is old-school genetic modification. New school is just us doing it faster and more efficiently. In fact, the genetically modified Golden Rice thing! So I put ”no GMO” people, as well as ”non-organic is bad for you” (there’s no difference except taste in SOME limited crops) in the same class as anti-vaxxers.The vegans…see, what people with at least one functioning brain cell who want the best for animals do, and have done for centuries–ask stricter Buddhists, is go vegetarian, which I went pescatarian, only eating your occasional low-grease whitefish where affordable until I got treated for a digestive problem where denser fats, such as animal fats, made me very sick, so I can cook for a vegetarian. Vegan is a diet of rich but dumb people who want to virtue signal and think we should let domestic chickens and dairy cows into the wild. In reality, we’ve bred those animals to the point they wouldn’t survive thirty seconds in the wild. Us farming milk and eggs at least is why they are the way they are, and in their current state, the best thing to do, if you want to avoid killing animals, would just be to benefit from the milk and eggs and not eat the flesh. But at the same time, I eat flesh, and I even grew up on sustenance fishing. So I just think if you’re gonna kill an animal, it should not be in vain. Hunt those ducks! But eat the flesh and sell or use the feathers :)And for Kosher, Halal, yeah, those diets are good ways to ensure cleanliness and avoid indigestion or foodborne illness. That was the best way to instruct humans to do so in those days. Totally okay with learning to accommodate that. And medical, for example, I’ve had friends who had diabetes or Coeliac’s, and Coeliac’s also runs in my mother’s side of the family, so I’ve accommodated those before and know all about cross-contamination.EDIT

The first thing people notice about me

My style can be described as

    My go-to dance

    My golden rule

    My weirdest quirk

I believe in always helping people up the ladder and fighting for the humanity of those denied it. I’m not much at protests, because since those are turned into riots by undercover cops so cops can squash the protest, a cripple on a cane would be trampled pretty quickly, but, say, Latino or West Asian people in front of me, I will jump in to fight for. I was targeted for violence for this in my old building, but I had a sign that said ”this house loves all immigrants and religions and wants to help,” and I stand by it still. It also brought the few homeless people that wandered up to the third floor to my door, and I was able to feed them and provide a nice shower and safe place to nap. Combined with the other violence because a neighbour figured it out and outed me to anyone who would give her the time of day, and the corrupt landlord who targeted me because I was paying less on a years-old lease and trashed my apartment to make me leave, and the derelict condition of the building making me sick, I left, but I’m not turning my back on those who need help and kindness here, either.EDIT

    NEEDS

Being strong enough to say and do what needs to be said and done.Silly humour. Think Monty Python’s Flying Circus, particularly the one where the bride and groom go to buy a bed.Put-down humour against people who deserve it. Lightest example is again, Mary Tyler Moore Show, pretty much anything Lou says to Ted.Pragmatism.Punk ethics as far as social equity and anti-bigotry, even though my taste in clothes and media is pretty preppy.Anger can be valued when properly directed and productively channeled, be it into social action or art.Knowing a bit about writing techniques, musical theory, and types of art.EDIT

Writing a massive fan project for one of the only two comics I ever got into, but I did meet my best friend in the fandom because we were the only people over 30 there.I had to build an entire world for it based on history, since the original author did surprisingly little about the dimensions he created. You’re welcome to ask about it.EDIT

    MOMENTS
On a typical Friday night I am

    A perfect day

Best day of my life so far

    Ideal weekend routine

    When I die, I will

On a typical Wednesday I am

Watching Fresh Off the Boat, Wheel of Fortune beforehand. At first, I wasn’t into how they just lump any old words into phrases in new episodes, but then I realised that it makes it a lot more challenging than having a set phrase. While I only TAPE Fresh Off the Boat, I do like brain puzzle shows and I’ve come to really appreciate new Wheel of Fortune. Friday and Sunday nights are when the only TV I follow is on. I have it on a lot at home, but it’s for background.EDIT

    SECRETS
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

The last time I was embarrassed

This is the saddest song ever written

    My biggest regret

    My relationship with my mother

Wow, none of these are good choices. The mother one might be better for most people, but for me, she was estranged for good reason.I guess I’ll admit I do deal with depression. It’s actually pretty mild, WAY milder than my dad’s or his mother’s. I usually just try to avoid things that will make me fall into it, like grunge rock or other sad music, other sad media, dwelling too long on bad things that have happened. I try to be the most positive person I can be. I want smile lines when I’m elderly :)EDIT

    DATING
    What I’m actually looking for

    You should message me if

Before I go on a date with someone I need to know that

I will never date someone that

    My worst date

    For our first date, let’s

If youve seen Mary Tyler Moore Show, a Lou Grant type, but more activism and less drinking. Tough, pragmatic exterior, but loving and kind deep down. But not overly romantic (as Lou isn’t) I’m not and I wouldn’t know what to do with someone who is.A fellow immigrant from somewhere other than Western Europe is a HUGE PLUS! I’m kinda first and third generation Japanese American at once (being mixed race aside, I mean nationality, not ethnicities) most of my life in America has been spent being friends with fellow immigrants. I only came to SoCal and found a large Shin-Issei population recently. That’s really the best way to describe my type, but if you don’t know that show, I’ll try one more: a fair number of Bleach fan novels that are actually STORIES that pair Ichigo and Grimmjow have Grimmjow as what I’m looking for.Conversely, I am sort of a mix of Mary Richards and Ichigo Kurosaki, so it works. (I know Mary and Lou didn’t work, but I was rooting for them)Hopefully, I’ve made it clear enough. Explaining type through fictional character is easy. Through plain words, I’m not sure I can, particularly in my third language.EDIT

    BOOKS
    Currently reading:

My favorite book of all time

The book that kept me thinking long after turning the last page

    My favorite book cover

The book I really hated, but finished anyways

The next book to be adapted to the big screen should be ____ because ____.

I do tend to read a few books at once. I’m turning this into”what I like reading.” I read solely murder mysteries for years. I particularly recommend Nakamura Kyoutarou’s Totugawa Keibu serie and Mori Hiroshi’s Saigawa and Moe Serie. But I don’t think those have been translated to English. But I’m murder mysteried out, and I find I like reading textbooks. I get vintage ones from Goodwill, and I can teach myself anything, whenever I want. Not enough to do it, not to degree level, but maybe enough to converse with someone who does it, or just to learn something new.EDIT

    REMOVE BOOKS

    ANIME & MANGA
The show I watched way too long after it stopped being good

    Dubs or subs? Why?

The manga/anime that defined my childhood

    My anime guilty pleasure

The greatest manga artists would have to be…

The only cartoon I’m really into. Bleach. Which only has two fans over thirty and I’m one of them. I read it to the end, but the Quincy arc was a mess (1,000 y.o. MORTALS… and the masked fighter seems to be an import from some kind of sketch comedy, the transphobia, I could go on) and the author promised no romance, but it ended as cishetnormative as you can get. And Chad beats people up for money/fame?? And it’s a happy ending that we still have a military dictatorship where the poor outside the capital kill each other for a piece of food? (And what a tiny world to begin with)Not to mention Orihime really got the short end of the stick as well as Chad. And the fact that there are three women who are all essentially non-characters except to be shown that they were killed off for angst irks me, too. That thing I’m writing is an entire fan remake of Bleach. Wonderful characters, but it shows that he wrote by the seat of his pants.EDIT

    MUSIC
Five songs I’d put on a playlist to send to a crush:

    My most memorable festival experience:

    My favorite concert venue

A band whose music got worse over time, but I still stand by:

    My go-to karaoke song

If I could describe the type of music I play, I’d say…

Best musician of all time, hands down, is…

The song I listen to when I want to remember a certain moment in time

    Best song to dance to

    My instrument

The anthem of my high school years

    If I had to choose between all-analog or all-digital, I’d choose…

The best part of the Gathering of the Juggalos is…

Pick one artist to soundtrack your life

Crush, no, but friends, family, past partners I’ve made mixtapes, so it’s more like 20 songs because that’s what fits on a 90-minute tape, give or take a song. I pride myself on being able to match people to music they’ll like, especially since my music knowledge spans the music of more countries and languages than your average American knows exist, because American grade school is crummy, and because for most of my life here, I’ve bonded with others over the shared experience of simply being immigrants, so I know music in more languages than a person could ever hope to speak, so my purview is enormous, and I try to introduce others to music they’ll like but never had a chance to hear before.EDIT

This was the greatest moment in sports

I played a bit of basketball in school. I’ll watch a game if it’s a team I like (Lakers and Heat are my tops for W/E Div.)I used to run about four miles every morning as soon as I woke up, before coffee. I got an injury at my last job that caused total paralysis of my left foot. I miss running. I don’t have a ritual or an environment like I do for drawing, when I actually do that, I think of something, jot down a note or a few lines of dialogue, even a scene, whenever and wherever I’m able, lest I forget.EDIT

    NEEDS
    I value

Six things I could never do without

If I could only eat one food for the rest of time it would be

This item makes me feel at home

    My partner should be

I couldn’t function without these apps

    HOBBIES
    I should spend less time

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I like to take pictures of

    My favorite conspiracy theory

Last video I watched on YouTube

    The last show I binged

I played a bit of basketball in school. I’ll watch a game if it’s a team I like (Lakers and Heat are my tops for W/E Div.)I used to run about four miles every morning as soon as I woke up, before coffee.
