I have always been most attracted to women who are whip smart, tough as nails, have a good head on their shoulders, and appreciate both the Oxford comma and idioms! 😉
I am not looking for anything more than good friends at the moment as I still haven’t found my dream job and am making it my first priority (the dream is Britain, Europe). Unfortunately, our global crisis has halted that plan, but hopefully within the next year I’ll be able to sort myself out and consider a permanent partnership with someone awesome. Until then, I’m more than happy to chat with people while we’re cooped up!
I am someone who has always enjoyed flying solo, being the lone wolf, or whatever either kind of metaphor applies. I’ve always known that I didn’t want the traditional marriage, kids, 1.5 pet scenario but only later in life did I come to terms with my own asexuality (gray- demi-)… and it’s been an uplifting revelation knowing that there are other people who want the same!
People have said that I have a lot to offer as a partner – and I do – but I am not interested in being a parent. I’m a popular uncle with my nieces and with the kids that I’ve coached over the years. I spend a lot of time coaching and take pride in being an educator and mentor to a lot of young people, but that’s where it ends with me. As an introvert, I enjoy my crucial re-charging time, be that alone or with someone else or a small group of fun, intelligent people.
I also enjoy having adventures, both local and abroad. I live in the country and have the ability to hike / bike every day and use my canoe in local rivers as much as I can. I workout a few times a week but would prefer to play a team sport. When I travel, I like to take in as many historical sites as possible and doing what locals do. I prefer the flavour of live sports where you can get closer to the action than when sat in the nosebleeds (though I do have some big bucket list games I want to see where I will NOT pay a month’s salary to sit closer to the sideline) or watching on the telly.
In addition to being somewhat of a jock, I’m also a huge nerd! I can talk Star Wars and some Trek until I notice eyes rolling, am a fan of clever cartoons like Archer, Rick and Morty, and classic Simpsons, and I often get referred to as ’not of this time’ as I can geek out about films from the 30s to the 60s. As a librarian, I am always trying to stay aware of all the things, but don’t usually get too deep into any one, so am happy to learn about what others are into!
